Eric Adams's Former Chief Adviser Charged with Bribery, Money Laundering, and Conspiracy

In New York City, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, the former chief adviser to Mayor Eric Adams, has been charged with conspiracy, bribery, and money laundering. She is accused of giving special treatment to two real estate developers whose construction project encountered obstacles. In return for her help, the developers allegedly provided Lewis-Martin and her son with over $100,000 in gifts, which her son used to buy a Porsche. Lewis-Martin resigned suddenly before the charges were filed.

This case is part of ongoing corruption investigations within the Adams administration. In September, Mayor Adams himself was indicted on charges of bribery, fraud, and soliciting illegal donations from foreign sources, charges he has denied.

Lewis-Martin's son, Glenn Martin II, and the developers are also facing charges. Both Lewis-Martin and her son surrendered to the court.

District Attorney Alvin Bragg stated, "We will continue to root out corruption; New Yorkers deserve no less. " The issue of corruption in the administration has been a significant concern as multiple officials have faced legal challenges.
