Senator John Fetterman spoke out against claims from the left that Donald Trump is a fascist during an interview with Jonathan Karl of ABC. Fetterman praised Trump’s political skills, noting his strong response after surviving an assassination attempt. He expressed doubt about labeling Trump as a fascist, stating that many voters, including those in his own state, do not identify as such. Fetterman believes it is important to focus on which candidate will best protect American values.
He also mentioned Kamala Harris’s use of the term "fascist" to describe Trump but emphasized that it is not a term he would use. Fetterman pointed out that ordinary people do not typically refer to others with such strong labels. Instead, he believes voters will choose candidates based on who aligns with their understanding of the American way of life.
In addition to this, Fetterman pledged to work with Trump’s administration and has already met with some of Trump’s cabinet nominees, like Pete Hegseth, to discuss their future plans. He thinks that engaging in conversations with Trump’s nominees is a proper duty for a U. S. Senator. Fetterman has expressed his intention to continue meeting other nominees to evaluate their qualifications and proposals for their roles in office.
He communicated this stance on the social media platform X, mentioning his recent discussions with Elise Stefanik and Tulsi Gabbard. Fetterman aims to stay proactive and involved in the political process, showing readiness to engage with the incoming administration.
