How the Left Will Defend Its Censorship Regime Against Trump

The reelection of President Donald Trump could be a significant moment for free speech in America. He has promised to look into censorship by the government, protect First Amendment rights on college campuses, and confront Big Tech's control over online speech. If these plans succeed, it could strengthen the First Amendment.

However, Trump's opponents will actively resist these changes. Maintaining control over speech is crucial for the left, and they will not give up their power easily. The right needs to prepare for these challenges, as the left's strategies have become clear during recent campaigns.

The Democratic National Convention revealed plans by the left to silence opposition if they regained power. Senator Chuck Schumer spoke about ambitious changes in voting and campaign finance laws, which could benefit Democrats and undermine conservative voices. Among these proposals is legislation aimed at reducing privacy for those who support nonprofit organizations advocating for contentious issues. This is often framed by the left as “transparency,” but many see it as doxxing, which facilitates harassment of those who support conservative causes.

Kamala Harris has a history of targeting conservative donors, going so far as to demand that nonprofits disclose their donor lists when she was California's Attorney General. This led to legal actions and opposition from the U. S. Supreme Court, which upheld the right to donate privately.

After the recent election, the Democrats may push these measures as a way to fracture Trump's support base. This mirrors past experiences, such as when the Tea Party emerged after Obamacare, and the left sought to undermine it by targeting organizations and donors involved.

Threats to conservative donors can come from federal agencies like the IRS, state laws, or even media leaks. Trump himself faced the leaking of his tax returns as part of a political campaign. Efforts to intimidate donors have also helped the left dominate corporate America, leading many companies to distance themselves from right-leaning groups.

Those aligned with America's First agenda are familiar with these tactics and must not only endure them but actively resist. The goal should be to guarantee that all Americans can support their beliefs without fear of exposure or retribution. By protecting donor privacy and opposing bureaucratic oversight, the Trump coalition can navigate these challenges and realize its free speech goals.
