Over the last 25 years, Boeing has received nearly $16 billion in government subsidies, making it the top recipient. The top 10 companies in government subsidies from 2000 to 2024 include Intel, Ford Motor, General Motors, and several others, with Intel receiving over $8 billion.
Most of Boeing's subsidies come from Washington State, which has nine tax benefits for the aerospace industry. Boeing operates the largest manufacturing facility in Everett, producing various airplane models.
Intel's government funding does not include upcoming CHIPS Act support, which amounts to $7. 9 billion. Intel has faced challenges in its foundry business, resulting in job cuts, but the new federal aid comes with restrictions against stock buybacks.
In 2020, Boeing requested to cancel a specific tax break to avoid tariffs for selling planes to Europe, following a long-standing dispute with Airbus. Despite these efforts, Boeing still received $86 million in tax incentives in 2022.
