CNN’s Scott Jennings stated that President Joe Biden will leave office "in disgrace," following a defense of Biden's actions by former Hillary Clinton campaign adviser Karen Finney. Approval ratings for Biden have fallen since September 2021, reaching a low of 37. 4% in June, with disapproval at 56. 7%, according to FiveThirtyEight.
During CNN’s "State of the Union," Finney expressed surprise at Biden's mental health issues but believed he would be remembered for his accomplishments in foreign policy and the Middle East. Jennings challenged her by asking if the Middle East is better now than when Biden took office. Finney claimed Biden successfully brought hostages home, but Jennings pointed out that many are still missing, including Americans.
Jennings criticized Biden's presidency, saying he would be remembered for inflation and the Afghanistan withdrawal. He suggested a significant cover-up regarding Biden's mental health has taken place over the years. Voter concerns about Biden's economic management and mental fitness rose during the campaign against Donald Trump, especially after Biden's poor debate performance. The Afghanistan withdrawal in 2021 drew widespread criticism from families of service members.
