Louisiana U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty blocked a federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate for health care workers Tuesday.
The ruling by Judge Doughty follows Missouri US District Judge Matthew Schelp's ruling on Monday that blocked mandates in 10 states.
A federal court has issued a nationwide injunction protecting health care workers across the country from Joe Biden's COVID vaccine mandate.
Yesterday, in response to a multi-state lawsuit led by Missouri, a federal court barred the Biden administration from enforcing a vaccine mandate for health care workers in 10 states who are employed at federally-funded health care clinics.
Today, a federal court in Louisiana expanded on that ruling and blocked the vaccine mandate nationwide.
Louisiana Western District U.S. Judge Terry Doughty's decision follows an identical ruling Monday from Missouri U.S. District Judge Matthew Schelp, but Schelp's decision only covered 10 states.
Doughty ruled on the lawsuit led by Republican Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and joined by 13 other states, but Doughty added a nationwide injunction in his ruling.

New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik, chair of the House GOP Conference, said on Tuesday that the federal charges against Steve Bannon, former chief strategist to President Trump, are "completely political" and part of a witch hunt.
Bannon was indicted recently for contempt of Congress after not complying with a subpoena from the Jan. 6 House select committee.
Stefanik was asked for her reaction to the charges against Bannon as well as the committee's handling of their investigation.
"It is a partisan political witch hunt by Nancy Pelosi. This is Nancy Pelosi's committee. It is completely political. And let's talk about the hypocrisy of this Department of Justice," Stefanik said at a news conference where E-PAC announced its endorsement of 8 House GOP candidates. Moderna CEO: Vaccines won't handle new coronavirus variant
The current crop of COVID-19 vaccines will not effectively handle the new omicron variant, according to the CEO of one of the biggest shot producers, Moderna.
Stéphane Bancel predicts the existing vaccines will be much less effective against the omicron, warning it would take months to manufacture at scale a vaccine that can tackle the new strain, the Financial Times reported.
President Biden has described omicron as "a cause for concern, not a cause for panic," arguing the government's medical experts "Believe that the vaccines will continue to provide a degree of protection against severe disease."
Bancel points out that the vaccines focus on the coronavirus spike protein to boost immunity, and 32 of the 50 mutations in the omicron variant are on that protein.
While Biden's top health adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has dismissed the power of natural immunity from a previous COVID infection, many scientists point to studies indicating its durability and effectiveness against variants is superior to the vaccines.

Instead, we should respect the right of the bodily integrity of individuals to decide for themselves," Alexander writes for the Brownstone Institute.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Rejects Gene Firm Partnership over China Links.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva notified the LA County Board of Supervisors that he will not work with genetics firm Fulgent to conduct mandatory testing and registration of COVID-19 in first responders after a recent briefing from the FBI where he was warned of the firm's links to China.
In a letter addressed to the supervisors, Sheriff Villanueva stated he was contacted by the FBI Weapons of Mass Destruction Coordinator regarding the significant risks posed by Fulgent Genetics Corporation.
The FBI contacted Villanueva with the express purpose of meeting with other leaders within LA County to share information on the ties between Fulgent and China.
China's 2017 cyber-security law allows the PRC to seize any data stored within China, or stored outside of China by any entity with a presence in China.
Villanueva further notes that LA first responders contacted Fulgent liaison Ben Kempner to ask him why they were being ordered to turn over personal and genetic data to the China-linked company or face firing.
After the FBI held their emergency briefing with LA county leaders, Villanueva stated that the lack of oversight by the Board of Supervisors has "Shattered all confidence my personnel have in this entire process under the County mandate."
LA County Sheriffs Department will continue to work with "Properly vetted testing companies with no association to Fulgent."

According to Khan, the redactions correlate with those parts of the conversation when the officers switched from mundane questions about life and politics to asking him about specific terrorist groups and attacks.

FBI document reveals how much info agency can access on communication apps like WhatsApp, report
Monitoring WhatsApp and Facebook user activity is a simple process for the FBI, according to recently obtained and published agency document.
The document obtained by "Rolling Stone" magazine outlines ways in which the agency legally obtains messages and metadata on communication apps also including Telegram and Viber.
The document appears to show iMessage and WhatsApp are the services that provide the FBI with the most access to data including content and history of messages sent and received.
WhatsApp was revealed to be the only one of the apps included in the document that produces certain user metadata every 15 minutes, meaning that even without a request from law enforcement for message content, WhatsApp's metadata clocks who and when someone is messaging, in addition to which contacts a user keeps in their address book.
A spokesperson for WhatsApp said that the document "Illustrates what we've been saying - that law enforcement doesn't need to break end-to-end encryption to successfully investigate crimes." "We carefully review, validate, and respond to law enforcement requests based on applicable law, and are clear about this on our website and in regular transparency reports," the spokesperson also said.
Neither of the two provide message content to the FBI, and Telegram will provide only the IP addresses and phone numbers of suspects in cases of potential terrorist activity.
