Mexican troops recently made the largest fentanyl seizure in history, amounting to over a ton in Sinaloa. This comes shortly after President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to impose a 25 percent tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada if they do not take stronger action against illegal immigration and drug smuggling. Sinaloa is home to the influential Sinaloa Cartel, known for smuggling vast quantities of drugs into the U. S. , including fentanyl. Following the recent operation, two individuals were arrested, and several weapons were also seized. Mexico's top security official, Omar Garcia Harfuch, stated that these enforcement actions would continue until violence in Sinaloa decreases.
