Judge Enforces Subpoena Against ActBlue, Advancing Fundraising Probe Against Dems.

A Wisconsin court decision is increasing scrutiny on ActBlue, a major Democratic fundraising platform. Judge Brad D. Schimel from Waukesha County Circuit Court approved a subpoena requiring ActBlue to explain claims made by GOP consultant Mark Block about unauthorized donations using his email identity. This legal action is part of a wider investigation led by Congress and 19 state attorneys general. The judge rejected ActBlue’s claims that complying with the subpoena would be too burdensome and allowed Block and his legal team from the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) to seek discovery to uncover potential fraud related to unauthorized donations from Block's old email associated with various liberal campaigns.

ActBlue's attempts to challenge the subpoena, mainly on behalf of a contributor named Bernard Cain, were unsuccessful. Judge Schimel stated that ActBlue functions as a contribution conduit and stressed the need for transparency in this matter. Block filed legal action this fall, claiming his identity was misused in a possible conspiracy exploiting ActBlue under civil racketeering laws. The investigation has also identified numerous questionable transactions on the platform, with House investigators issuing a subpoena amid inquiries into possible illegal foreign funding. ActBlue has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
