DNC Finance Committee Member Calls for Audit of Kamala Harris Campaign: ‘People Became Millionaires’

Last week, Lindy Li, a Democrat big donor and former member of the DNC finance committee, criticized the Kamala Harris campaign for a large sum of missing campaign funds. She stated that no one is taking responsibility for this disappearance and is now requesting an audit to trace where the money went. Li pointed out that some individuals connected to the campaign have become millionaires almost instantly, implying that it appears some insiders were benefiting at the expense of the campaign.

James Carville has also called for an audit of the Harris campaign, reinforcing Li's concerns. They argue that the Democratic Party will struggle to raise funds until there is transparency about the missing money. Li highlighted that there are conflicts of interest and emphasized the need for a detailed financial review beyond what federal election reports provide. She expressed that voters and donors must trust the party again, pointing out past issues, like Obama’s debt in 2012 and how it affected Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Li believes there is no reason for these consultants to have made large fortunes from the campaign. She insists the campaign's funds should have focused on engaging voters in battleground states and addressing vital issues like inflation, rather than enriching well-connected individuals in the Democratic Party. She called for answers regarding why certain people became multimillionaires and stated that small donors to the campaign those who contributed smaller amounts out of belief in Harris should feel cheated.
