Joe Biden adviser had contact with Burisma during height of corruption probe, emails show

The FBI has documents from 2016 revealing that Hunter Biden's team arranged for a senior Burisma Holdings executive to meet with one of Joe Biden's advisers at the State Department in 2014. The meeting was facilitated by the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner, where Hunter Biden was employed. Hunter Biden himself was involved in the outreach. The documents were recently turned over to the House Oversight Committee by one of Hunter Biden's business partners, Devon Archer.

These documents are significant because they provide new evidence for House investigators leading the Biden impeachment inquiry. Some of the documents were not on Hunter Biden's laptop and were never produced as evidence in Donald Trump's Ukraine impeachment case. Additionally, Hochstein had claimed in 2020 Senate testimony that he could not recall whether he had contact with Burisma as early as 2014.

The efforts to connect Hochstein with Pozharskyi began in July 2014, less than three months after Hunter Biden joined Burisma's board. At the time, the Obama-Biden State Department considered Burisma to be a corrupt company and was advocating for some form of accountability or punishment. The Zlochevsky investigation generated international headlines, and the Obama-Biden State Department considered Burisma to be a corrupt company at the time and was advocating for some form of accountability or punishment.

Hunter Biden's lawyer Abbe Lowell did not return messages seeking comment on the documents. Hochstein could not be reached for comment either. The State Department did not respond to requests for comment. The documents provide evidence that foreign entities like Burisma were paying Hunter Biden and his associates while his father was vice president.
