Trump issues shock threat to 90,000 new IRS staff as he reveals where they may end up working under him

Donald Trump has suggested that nearly 90,000 newly hired Internal Revenue Service (IRS) staff might be moved to work at the U. S. -Mexico border. This comment came after he signed an executive order stopping new federal civilian employee hiring until his administration determines it is in the national interest. The hiring freeze affects all federal offices, and Trump's order puts the future of around 87,000 IRS agents, hired under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act to focus on high-wealth tax evasion, in jeopardy.

At a speech in Las Vegas, Trump indicated these IRS staff could be reassigned to the border, explaining that they would be "allowed to carry guns" there. He also announced plans for an agency called the External Revenue Service (ERS) to enforce taxes on foreign countries, which he believes will generate significant revenue for the U. S. He asserted that his administration would push for tariffs on goods from nations that do not conduct manufacturing in America, framing it as a way to protect U. S. workers and bring back a thriving economy.

Trump emphasized the need for foreign businesses to establish themselves in America or face tariffs, aiming to restore what he described as the "American dream. " He urged Canada to become the 51st state to avoid potential economic sanctions from his administration. Trump's remarks highlighted a dramatic shift in federal employment policy and economic strategy as he focuses on border security and tariffs as part of his broader agenda.
