Planned Parenthood Condemns Trump Pardons of Pro-Life Americans, Says Praying is “Violence”

Planned Parenthood is upset that President Donald Trump pardoned 23 pro-life Americans, who were imprisoned under President Joe Biden for protesting against abortion. Trump signed an executive order to restore their freedom, criticizing Biden for targeting elderly individuals with legal actions. Many of these pro-life advocates were involved in peaceful activities like praying or singing at abortion clinics to support mothers in choosing life.

Planned Parenthood reacted negatively, claiming that Trump pardoned individuals who committed violence against abortion providers. They stated that Trump’s actions disregard the law and that people should be able to access health care services safely. They emphasize their commitment to the safety of patients and staff, asserting that everyone has the right to receive health care without facing intimidation.

Critics argue that Planned Parenthood's view of pro-life advocates as committing "violence" is unreasonable. They point out that these protests occur because they oppose abortion, which they believe kills babies. Trump’s pardons reversed the legal consequences faced by these pro-life supporters after being prosecuted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

The Thomas More Society, which represents many of these advocates, previously requested pardons from Trump, detailing each case and the moral character of those involved. Following the pardons, advocates expressed gratitude for being able to return to their families and reclaim their rights after unjust treatment by the Biden administration’s legal actions.

Among those pardoned were several pro-life individuals who faced severe legal penalties for their peaceful protests. Advocates praised the pardons as a way to restore justice and called for Congress to repeal the FACE Act to prevent future misuse against peaceful pro-life activists.

In a prior commitment, Trump mentioned that he would work on behalf of political prisoners persecuted under the Biden administration. He stands by his motto of fulfilling promises made during his election campaign, especially regarding protecting religious beliefs from federal government actions.

The letter from the Thomas More Society also highlighted that the Biden administration has not prosecuted individuals under the FACE Act for numerous attacks on pro-life centers, suggesting a one-sided application of the law. They argue that the FACE Act’s original intent has been twisted, especially given the recent Supreme Court ruling that questioned the constitutional basis for abortion rights.
