Democratic Delegate and LGBTQ activist Matthew Inman, aged 39, has been arrested for sending child pornography to an undercover law enforcement officer. Inman, the President of the Rainbow Democrats in Florida, has previously served as Treasurer for the Orange County Democratic Party. He is known for his strong support for Kamala Harris and has attended Democratic National Conventions.
Inman has been charged with transportation of child sexual abuse material, which can lead to a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted. According to the U. S. District Attorney's office, Inman allegedly received and stored several videos showing adults abusing young children between August and October 2024. While communicating online with an undercover officer posing as the father of a nine-year-old boy, Inman expressed a desire to meet and sexually assault the fictional child, sending child sexual abuse material in the process.
When the FBI executed a search warrant at his home, Inman attempted to hide in the attic and delete evidence from his phone. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse launched by the Department of Justice. The FBI is conducting the investigation, and the prosecution is led by Assistant U. S. Attorney Richard Varadan. It is important to note that a criminal complaint only indicates formal charges, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
