Trump Uses Emergency Powers to Send U.S. Military into California and Provide Water: “The Days of Putting a Fake Environmental Argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER.”

 President Trump announced that the United States Military has entered California to assist with ongoing wildfires and to turn on water supplies. The wildfires in Los Angeles County have caused significant damage, including the destruction of over 16,200 structures and the loss of at least 29 lives as of Monday. Trump stated on Truth Social that under Emergency Powers, the military has made water flow from the Pacific Northwest, declaring that the prioritization of environmental arguments over people is finished.

This action follows an executive order signed by Trump that addresses emergency water resources in California and aims to improve disaster responses. The order describes how has affected the entire nation, emphasizing that it is in the national interest to provide resources for California to fight these fires and similar future disasters. It declares U. S. policy to ensure adequate water resources for Southern California, overriding ineffective state or local policies.

The executive order charged various secretaries, including Defense, Homeland Security, and Agriculture, to quickly ensure sufficient water resources in Southern California, especially in light of critical aquifer depletion. The blame for this situation is directed at California Democrats, who supposedly prioritized environmental concerns over public safety, resulting in firefighters facing a shortage of water to fight the wildfires. Trump aims to redirect water to residents instead of it being wasted to protect a small fish species.

The situation escalated when Trump criticized Democrat Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles for her slow response to the wildfire aftermath and allowing evacuated residents to return to their homes. He expressed his frustration over her not using emergency powers effectively to aid in recovery efforts.

In his announcement, Trump encouraged Californians to enjoy the water, reinforcing his commitment to addressing the immediate needs of people impacted by these disasters.

However, the California Department of Water Resources later stated that the military did not enter California and clarified that federal water pumps were restarted after maintenance, indicating that water supplies remain adequate.
