Daily ICE Arrests Under Trump Already Surpassing Biden-Era Numbers

Deportation officers conducted nearly 1,000 arrests on a single day, which is significantly higher than the average of daily arrests during the Biden administration. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents reported making 956 arrests, greatly exceeding the average of about 310 daily arrests under Biden in fiscal year 2024.

Since President Trump took office again, numerous criminal migrants have been arrested, including those linked to gangs and serious crimes like child rape and terrorism. The White House highlighted arrests, including a convicted child rapist and a suspected ISIS associate. ICE also launched a large-scale operation in Chicago, a sanctuary city that opposes the administration’s immigration policies.

The 956 arrests are in addition to 1,300 ICE arrests mentioned previously, totaling over 2,000 apprehensions in one week. The Trump administration is actively increasing immigration enforcement and has signed an executive order for a national emergency at the U. S. -Mexico border to address immigration issues. This order has led to military support for deportations.

ICE has also changed policies by allowing deportation activities in sensitive locations like schools and expanded expedited removal policies. The administration has asserted stricter measures against countries that refuse to accept deportees, exemplified by recent tensions with Colombia.

Despite the increase in apprehensions, rates remain low compared to past highs of illegal immigration during the Biden administration, with Border Patrol reporting about 5,600 daily encounters at the U. S. -Mexico border in fiscal year 2023.
