The Grift That Has Been Joe Biden

We are in the fourth day of Joe Biden’s time after the presidency, and his departure is welcomed. Journalist Matt Taibbi has provided a significant commentary on Biden’s time as president. It’s important to reflect not just on Biden’s presidency but also on the collaboration between the White House, Democratic lawmakers, and the mainstream media in promoting false narratives.

Biden's presidency can be summed up as "incoherent. " This disarray was not just because of his communication issues but also stemmed from poor policies both domestically and internationally. Despite things happening clearly, the White House and media insisted otherwise. Unlike past presidents like Gerald Ford, whose stumbles were highlighted, Biden’s missteps were downplayed or ignored.

Looking back at Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address reveals its incoherence. Responses from Democrats and media suggest they were complicit in this deception. Politicians and journalists praised the speech using enthusiastic terms, attempting to convince the public that everything was fine, despite the appearance of incompetence.

Biden campaigned in 2020 with the slogan “Build Back Better,” leading to policies that totaled over $4 trillion in new spending under various legislative acts. These initiatives worked against their title, attempting to cover up the damages caused by lockdowns through excessive spending, ultimately resulting in rampant inflation. This inflation was directly tied to the government’s actions, which also forced businesses into unhealthy production lines, setting the stage for an unavoidable recession.

Biden’s administration poorly handled the economy, trying to imitate California’s progressive policies while yielding harmful results. Although the energy sector fared well independently of Biden’s interventions, he sent clear signals that oil companies should not invest in new technologies or resources.

Despite funding initiatives for electric vehicle infrastructure, only a handful of charging stations were built, far from the target needed for a successful EV future. The Biden plan required extensive investments in infrastructure that were not coming to fruition, presenting a dangerous scenario for transportation and energy needs.

His plans resembled the centralized economic planning seen in the Soviet Union, leading to deeper economic troubles due to vast spending and inflation. In regard to COVID-19, his response involved strict mandates and lockdowns, failing to effectively address pandemic-related issues, which led to more deaths than during Trump’s presidency.

Biden also took a heavy-handed approach to free speech, attacking dissenting views and pressuring social media platforms to comply with his administration’s narrative through threats and harassment.

In a notable September 2022 speech, Biden labeled Trump and his supporters as threats to democracy. Critics deemed this approach divisive, as he utilized military personnel for political purposes, breaking long-standing norms of separating military and political functions.

The response from social media companies highlighted a shift toward using governmental power to control narratives. Ultimately, while Biden's demeanor may have seemed incoherent, his administration was rigorous in pursuing power and suppressing opposition.

Some argue his speech was aimed at safeguarding democracy, but many view him as a destructive figure. The term "grift" is deemed more fitting for his presidency, and there is a general relief that his term has ended.
