Burns is a pastor and televangelist in South Carolina and was one of the early backers of Trump's presidential bid in 2016.
He has also served six years in the South Carolina Army National Guard.
The South Carolina GOP primary will take place June 25.
Burns will be facing Republican opponent Sheri Biggs.

Trump called Burns a fighter and said he would not let South Carolinians down.
