Since the Democrats suffered significant losses in the elections on November 5, there has been much debate within the party about their failures. Many blame various issues, including their neglect of the working class. However, the core problem lies in leftism itself, not merely in poor candidates or strategies. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the Democratic Party for abandoning working-class people and called for change, implying a shift towards full socialism.
This view overlooks the fact that socialism has always failed throughout history, not due to poor management but because it is based on unrealistic beliefs about human nature and disregards the value of freedom and choice. Proponents of socialism often believe that government knows best, yet evidence suggests that free-market capitalism has been more successful. Countries that embrace socialism have historically experienced decline.
Socialism erodes character and encourages dependency, especially when people come to expect handouts without responsibility. Historical evidence shows that societies can collapse under such ideologies. In ancient Athens, when citizens sought security and comfort from the state rather than contributing to society, they ultimately lost their freedom.
Today's progressive ideas are not only dangerous but also absurd. For example, green energy policies ignore the complexities of climate science without providing any reliable alternatives to fossil fuels. Similarly, the notion of transgenderism undermines biological realities, promoting a dangerous obsession with subjective feelings over established scientific understanding.
Furthermore, recent violent events, such as the New Year’s Day attacks in New Orleans, highlight a troubling disconnect among elites towards jihadist movements. Some in academia are showing inappropriate support for extremist groups, which further emboldens terrorist agendas against Western values.
The Iranian regime's leaders exploit these signs of weakness in the U. S. , manipulating the rhetoric of young activists to position them as allies in a struggle against perceived oppressors. The idea that American students rallying for causes are on the same side as those intent on spreading radical ideologies is unsettling. It raises concerns about the implications of this alliance and the genuine misunderstanding of the threats posed by such ideologies.
The Democrats’ disconnect from reality has endangered the nation for years, and there is hope that a new administration can rectify this situation and restore a sense of normalcy.
