Monday afternoon, Melissa and I were brainstorming for segments for this week's The Spectacle Podcast. She mentioned a post on X that listed many falsehoods publicized by legacy media over recent years. I will show you this list soon and share the figures demonstrating the volume of fake narratives we’ve encountered.
These media outlets have consistently accused the Right of being filled with "conspiracy theorists" and spreading "disinformation. " To support these claims, they took measures to undermine independent media that challenge their false claims. Many of these organizations collaborated with nonprofit groups, some receiving government funding, to demonetize independent media websites, labeling them as sources of "disinformation" and targeting journalists who disagreed with the elite's messaging.
They worked to limit competitors and suppress any efforts to hold them accountable, and this wasn't hidden. While trying to eliminate real competition for traffic or subscription money, these same organizations were spreading numerous lies.
The legacy media continues to spread many false narratives, including claims about the Trump campaign's assassination attempts, mischaracterizations of true statements, and fabricated connections to Russia, among others.
I recall the situation on July 1, 1987, when President Ronald Reagan nominated Judge Robert Bork for the Supreme Court. Many believed his nomination would be smooth. However, the outcome was harsh. This was evident in the battles faced by Judge Brett Kavanaugh recently, from which he emerged only due to his determination. Conservatives tend to be slow to respond against the aggressive actions of the left. While a few publications have supported conservative figures, the movement must unite to back nominees and assert their commitment to support presidential appointees.
