Conservatives Furious as GOP Leadership Strikes Deal on Massive Spending Bill

Congress is working on a significant year-end spending bill to avoid a government shutdown before the Christmas break. This bipartisan deal aims to extend government funding until March 14 and provide over $100 billion in emergency disaster aid. Some conservatives are upset about this agreement, describing it as a "total dumpster fire. " They express frustration that the process repeats each year, leading to increasing national debt. GOP Rep. Eric Burlison criticized the bill, calling it garbage and highlighting the contradiction of adding to the deficit while claiming to support efficiency in government.

The bill's details are still not fully available, and there is concern about a lack of time for proper review before voting. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer emphasized the urgent need for an agreement to avoid a government shutdown as the December 20 deadline approaches. The national debt has exceeded $36 trillion, with significant interest payments, prompting discussions about government inefficiency.

Some conservative lawmakers, like Rep. Andy Biggs, have criticized the continuous resolutions that allow for high spending without establishing a long-term budget. They argue that this approach is a failure of Congress to manage fiscal responsibility properly. Rep. Nancy Mace highlighted the predictability of the government's crises, which she suggests are manufactured to push spending bills further into debt.

Sean Davis from The Federalist described the upcoming bill as a "massive K Street Christmas tree omnibus" full of giveaways to special interests. The ongoing spending practices have received sharp criticism as the national debt continues to rise dramatically.
