A California Committee Approved A Bill For $800 Billion In Slavery Reparations, Exceeding 2.5 Times The Annual Budget.

A California State Legislature committee has approved a bill that could allocate a staggering $800 billion for slavery reparations. This sum is more than 2.5 times the state’s annual budget. Notably, California was never a slave state historically, yet it will be paying individuals who themselves were never enslaved. The decision reflects an acknowledgment of the long-lasting harm endured by Black Americans, even in a state that never officially endorsed slavery.  Critics, however, raise concerns about the responsibility of current taxpayers for events that germinated hundreds of years ago.
