A California State Legislature committee has approved a bill that could allocate a staggering $800 billion for slavery reparations. This sum is more than 2.5 times the state’s annual budget. Notably, California was never a slave state historically, yet it will be paying individuals who themselves were never enslaved. The decision reflects an acknowledgment of the long-lasting harm endured by Black Americans, even in a state that never officially endorsed slavery. Critics, however, raise concerns about the responsibility of current taxpayers for events that germinated hundreds of years ago.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to discern fact from fiction, and unfortunately the media has a strong bias.
