Conspiracies Too Awful to Imagine?

In the past decade, there has been intense opposition to Donald Trump, which has led to attacks on civil liberties and the justice system from his opponents, mainly the left, which includes politicians, the media, and bureaucratic institutions. Despite Trump's unconventional approach and lack of a typical political background, his administration from 2017 to 2021 achieved success according to traditional measures in various areas. However, the left used his presidency as justification for significant assaults on civil liberties and free expression.

There have been numerous attempts to undermine Trump, including two impeachments and efforts to remove him from ballots. This atmosphere of hostility led to actions that many view as conspiratorial. The legacy of these aggressive efforts could set dangerous precedents that threaten the republic.

The investigation into alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 election stands out, as there was no evidence supporting these claims. The Clinton campaign worked to create a fraudulent dossier and used various government agencies to push this narrative. Robert Mueller's investigation ultimately found no evidence of collusion, exposing efforts from the FBI to manipulate information and targets.

During Trump's presidency, various attempts to sabotage his administration were evident. For instance, a Pentagon lawyer called for Trump's impeachment, while plans were made to secretly record conversations with him. The intelligence community also misled the public about Hunter Biden's laptop to assist Biden's campaign, and key health officials mismanaged information regarding the origins of the COVID-19 virus, which negatively impacted the economy.

High-ranking military officials acted outside their authority, such as General Mark Milley who communicated with Chinese military leaders without presidential approval, potentially undermining Trump’s command. Additionally, there were legal changes during the 2020 election due to COVID, which shifted how ballots were cast and counted in several states, contributing to a radical overhaul of voting procedures.

Many influential figures believed to be connected to a "cabal" worked to influence the 2020 election, attempting to ensure a Biden victory through various means, including shaping narratives and financing local election efforts. Following the election, over 90 criminal charges were launched against Trump, which some observers deemed politically motivated, particularly as they occurred during his campaign for a third presidential run.

Trump faced assassination attempts during a tense election cycle, encouraged by a hostile narrative that likened him to dictatorial figures. These situations reflected a dangerous environment, where public figures expressed approval or indifference to violence against him.

Finally, there is concern over media and Democratic efforts to obscure any health issues related to the sitting president. This has raised risks for national security and weakened responses to international threats, contributing to a perception of instability in leadership.

Ironically, those who engaged in these controversial actions often projected the blame onto Trump, presenting him as the originator of conspiracies against institutions that they had already undermined.
