Not that Poppy Bush deserved to be re-elected in 1992 after reneging on his "Read my lips, no new taxes" promise to the voters, but the main reason why he lost that election was because most voters went to the polls convinced that an economy that was humming right along was in fact in a recession.
It won't stick this time, for one key reason: In 1991, the country did go through a very brief, very modest recession.
Speaking of despicable, disgraceful and disgusting, how about that New York Times, huh? - In case you missed it, New York Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet got caught on audio admitting that his fake news publication had literally built its staff to promote the "Russia collusion" story, and is now regrouping because, in his words, "The story has changed" to racism.
As we have known now for two solid years, the story never changed at all: "Russia collusion" was a massive hoax from day one, and everyone involved knew it was a hoax, including Baquet and his tailor-made staff at the New York Times.
What has actually changed this year is that the vaunted Mueller Report failed to support the hoax, humiliating the Times, and all the myriad other fake news organizations that had pushed the hoax on behalf of the Democrat Party beginning in mid-2016.
"How do we grapple with all the stuff you all are talking about? How do we write about race in a thoughtful way, something we haven't done in a large way in a long time?".
Sad because this is so awfully representative of the sorry, tattered state of the U.S. news media today.
