Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren offered a public apology Monday to Native Americans over her past claim to tribal heritage, directly tackling an area that's proved to be her biggest political liability.
"Like anyone who has been honest with themselves, I know I have made mistakes," the Massachusetts senator said at the start of her appearance at a forum on Native American issues in this pivotal early-voting state.
Hey, the Left is always saying that when someone on the Right apologizes for something, so I'm just adhering to the new rules.
A more sincere apology would have been, "I repeatedly misrepresented myself for personal gain, and for that I apologize."
Warren says this is a result of being honest with herself.
Even if that was the intention, Warren has now opened herself to attacks from her primary opponents by reviving the subject.
