Jesse Lee Calhoun, a suspected serial killer from the Pacific Northwest, has been charged with the murder of a sixth victim, Elizabeth "Libby" Gibson. Calhoun's previous release from prison under clemency has drawn significant attention, as he allegedly resumed killing afterward.
Calhoun, indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury, faces a first-degree manslaughter charge for Gibson's death, which is believed to have occurred on November 18, 2022. Her body has not been found, and she was reported missing in March 2023.
The District Attorney, Nathan Vasquez, emphasized the commitment to achieving justice for all victims and their families.
Calhoun has pleaded not guilty to previous murder charges involving five other women: Charity Lynn Perry, Ashley Real, Kristin Smith, Joanna Speaks, and Bridget Leanne Webster, whose bodies were found in rural areas between late 2022 and mid-2023.
Gibson's family expressed gratitude for the steps towards justice and remembered her as a loving and creative person.
Calhoun had been released from prison in 2021 but had his clemency revoked in July 2023 after being linked to the murders.
Calhoun is scheduled for arraignment on the new charges, and a trial date will be set.
