In a recent operation named "Operation Safe Community-Indiana," U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 426 illegal foreign nationals in Indiana over five days. The operation aimed to enhance public safety by capturing individuals with significant criminal backgrounds.

Arrests and Criminal History: Among those apprehended were individuals with extensive criminal histories, including various serious offenses such as:
Sex crimes

Low Incident Rate: Patricia Hyde, acting Assistant Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, stated the operation reflects ICE's commitment to community safety and emphasizes the benefits of inter-agency cooperation.
Geographic Focus: While many arrests occurred in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, targeted enforcement actions were conducted statewide.
Gang Activities: The operation also targeted members of transnational criminal gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, which included individuals from different countries with significant criminal records.
287(g) Program: ICE is expanding its operations in Indiana through the 287(g) program, which allows state and local law enforcement to perform specific immigration functions under ICE's oversight. As of mid-September, 45 applications for involvement in this program have been filed in Indiana.
