President Trump has declared a national emergency in order to build a wall intended to protect the health, safety and welfare of American citizens. This was done in the face of obstruction by Democrats and sure to follow law suits to challenge and/or delay his efforts.  They are a reprehensible group of people who prove yet again that they do not care even a little bit for the health, safety and welfare of American citizens.  Quote: "Congress passed the National Emergencies Act, giving the President vast powers in the event of a national emergency, in 1976. Here is a rational assessment of Trump's decision.  It suggests Trump made a mistake and provides reasonable rationale. Under the law, Trump clearly has the power to declare a national emergency for any reason he, as President, deems appropriate.  If the law is not struck down, it is unlikely that the declaration will be. Democrats prove once again that they are incredibly stupid, irresponsible and do not care about the safety and welfare of American citizens. At the last minute Democrats inserted a poison-pill into the congressional border agreement, ensuring that Trump will not agree. While there certainly is good economic news to enjoy.  This is a really big problem and if our worthless and highly politicized congress does not get its act together, and soon, the disaster some are predicting will be proven right.  You can be sure that some on the Democrat side understand the problem but the current version of their party bent on giving stuff away to get elected will not even come close to helping fix the mess they and past occupants as well as presidents of both parties created all by themselves. Political expediency and getting elected/re-elected is far more important to the political class than sound fiscal management of tax payer resources.  Quote: "Today, most people look in the rear-view mirror and ask, “If the Fed’s done it before, why can’t they do it again?” Mr. Volcker would probably tell you it just doesn’t work that way.
