Clean Energy Benchmark Is Natural Gas: Today and for the Future

Recent discussions in America focus on energy production and consumption, particularly the best energy sources for today and the future. Bloomberg Intelligence indicates that data centers might account for up to 17% of U. S. electricity use by 2030, with one data center using significantly more electricity than a typical office.

As the country addresses its energy future, it's clear that natural gas is an affordable, reliable, and clean energy option against which others should be compared. The American Gas Association notes a 61% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from electricity generation due to more natural gas usage, contrasting the restart of coal plants as a sign that more gas-fired power plants are needed soon. Plans are in place to add 133 natural gas plants to the U. S. grid by 2030, as renewable energy isn't meeting increasing demands.

A specific case in Omaha, Nebraska, shows the urgency of energy needs. While some consider restarting an old coal plant amidst air pollution concerns, Kansas is taking a different approach. Energy plans to build two new natural gas plants to ensure dependable energy, reflecting a more sustainable and cleaner path as highlighted by Governor Laura Kelly.

The Energy Security ARC plan by The Empowerment Alliance emphasizes that natural gas is the best clean energy choice. Decisions about energy impact jobs and consumer costs, and the U. S. has successfully reduced carbon emissions largely through natural gas. While there are other options like nuclear and coal, natural gas remains a trusted choice for millions of households and businesses now and in the future.
