Democrat Rep. Stacey Plaskett declared on Wednesday that the purpose of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI is to “terrorize” former President Donald Trump and his “disgusting supporters.” During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on government weaponization, Plaskett accused the Weaponization Subcommittee as being set up in order to “eradicate” the DOJ and FBI, which would leave Trump and his supporters unmolested.
“We’re having these hearings so that you become immune, you become inured to the notion of the removal of the FBI and DOJ, so that those agencies are no longer there to serve as a check against white nationalism, great replacement theorists, Christian nationalists, white fragility, fascists, and the twice-impeached convicted felon, former president and would-be dictator Donald Trump,” Plaskett angrily stated.
This all explains why Plaskett is so upset that the Weaponization Subcommittee is seeking to hold the DOJ and FBI accountable for its politicized actions.
Additionally, the DOJ unlawfully appointed a special counsel to prosecute multiple criminal cases against Trump in an election year, which even the agency’s own chief of public affairs recently admitted in undercover video was a “perversion of justice.” Special Counsel Jack Smith has even sought the identities of every individual who has ever liked, retweeted, or followed Trump’s X account.
Since then, Democrats like Kamala Harris have openly vowed to use the DOJ as a political weapon, including to prosecute people for exercising their free speech and continue going after Trump for receiving an endorsement from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Unfortunately for the country and much to Plaskett’s delight, the DOJ led by Attorney General Merrick Garland has deeply politicized the agency’s mission in order to meet the objectives that Plasket has described at the expense of addressing major criminal activities in the U.S. For example, under Joe Biden and Garland, the DOJ has jailed peaceful pro-life protesters, harassed and surveilled parents concerned about woke gender and race indoctrination in classrooms, worked to shut down voter ID initiatives, sued Elon Musk for refusing to hire refugees, jailed political opponents like Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro, and imprisoned thousands of Jan. 6 protesters, many of whom weren’t even present at the Capitol riot.
“The mission of the Department of Justice is to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights,” the agency states on its official website.
