President Trump Orders Declassification of Lots of Russia Probe Documents

At the request of a number of committees of Congress, and for reasons of transparency, the President has directed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of Justice to provide for the immediate declassification of the following materials: pages 10-12 and 17-34 of the June 2017 application to the FISA court in the matter of Carter W. Page; all FBI reports of interviews with Bruce G. Ohr prepared in connection with the Russia investigation; and all FBI reports of interviews prepared in connection with all Carter Page FISA applications.

President Donald J. Trump has directed the Department of Justice to publicly release all text messages relating to the Russia investigation, without redaction, of James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Bruce Ohr.

The entire Russia collusion investigation has festered and metastasized under the grotesque pall of secrecy that Justice and the FBI have imposed on even the most minor releases of information.

Each and every declassified document has brought with it more evidence of an active conspiracy within the upper reaches of Justice and the FBI to actively undermine the Trump administration once it became clear that Hillary Clinton was not going to get her turn because of sexism and misogyny.

The move, long foreshadowed by calls from Trump's top allies in Congress, dramatically heightens the confrontation between Trump and his own intelligence community, while Mueller also pursues allegations that Trump attempted to obstruct the Russia probe from the outset.

"Trump has ordered the release of sensitive information into an ongoing investigation of himself and his friends-information that his own Justice Department did not want released because it would jeopardize ongoing investigations," said former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti.

Schiff: Trump, in a clear abuse of power, has decided to intervene in a pending law enforcement investigation by ordering the selective release of materials he believes are helpful to his defense team and thinks will advance a false narrative.
