New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill has signed a controversial bill, S2260, which has sparked strong criticism from pro-life advocates.
NJ Right to Life (NJRTL) disapproves of S2260, believing it shields abortion providers from legal accountability and investigations, particularly from out-of-state entities.
Executive Director Marie Tasy argues this law prioritizes the abortion industry over the protection of unborn children, stating it effectively grants a "blank check" for abortions.
The legislation includes protections for a range of procedures classified as "reproductive health care" and introduces new penalties for “interference with reproductive health care services.”
Tasy expresses concern about the law's language potentially criminalizing peaceful pro-life activities, labeling them as intimidation based on subjective perceptions.
She emphasizes that abortion contradicts the fundamental right to life and argues for better support and alternatives for mothers facing unintended pregnancies.
NJRTL vows to oppose the law, advocating for a focus on support for women and the unborn rather than expanding abortion rights.
