Trump’s First 100 Days: A Scorecard of Wins, Waits, and Wobbles

As President Donald Trump's second term approaches its first 100 days on April 30, 2025, conservatives are evaluating his actions and outcomes. While he has made significant progress on some goals, some promises remain unfulfilled along with a few unexpected challenges.

The Good: Achievements and Progress

• Trump’s presidency began with vigorous actions, including 130 executive orders, aimed at revamping federal government operations.

• Immigration enforcement has intensified, with the Laken Riley Act mandating that ICE detain illegal immigrants accused of particular crimes. ICE arrests surged by 627% compared to previous years, and border crossings decreased by 95%.

• Trump aims to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, promising lower tax rates and bigger deductions for families and businesses.

• The establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has led to significant reductions in federal jobs, aligning with conservative efforts to limit government size.

• Trump’s foreign policy achievements include a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

• He has also granted clemency to January 6 defendants, energizing supporters who believe these prosecutions were politically motivated.

The Bad: Promises Awaited

• Despite success, some campaign promises are still pending. The anticipated mass deportation of illegal immigrants has not yet materialized to the expected scale, with funding issues cited as a concern.

• Efforts to completely dismantle the Department of Education face roadblocks as Congress will need to approve further action.

• The promise to lower refugee admissions has not been fully realized yet, as no definite cap has been established, making conservatives restless for action.

The Challenges: External Obstacles

• Conservatives are frustrated by setbacks caused by bureaucrats and the judiciary. For instance, some FBI agents have opted out of ICE raids, which many conservatives view as a crucial duty.

• Planned expansions at Guantanamo Bay for migrant detainees have stalled due to bureaucratic slowdown.

• An activist court's ruling reversed the firing of 25,000 federal employees in a move deemed illegal, highlighting challenges from judicial intervention.

• Progress on cutting funds to sanctuary cities has also been slower than expected.

Trump’s first 100 days showcase a mix of significant conservative victories and ongoing challenges. While many of his achievements promote a conservative agenda, there is still much work to be done regarding promises on deportations, education reform, and legal battles. As he moves forward, the effectiveness of his administration in overcoming obstacles will determine the success of his presidency. Conservatives remain hopeful and vigilant as they continue to support his agenda.
