How many times have we heard Joe Biden and congressional Democrats hyperbolically whine about a threat to "our Democracy," 99 times out of 100 in reference to Donald Trump and "MAGA Republicans"? Should we tell them? Nah, let's let them continue to make fools out of themselves.
When Democrats talk about democracy, they mean Democrat rule
- John Adams: "Democracy never lasts long"
- Thomas Jefferson: "The republican is the only form of government which is not eternally at open or secret war with the rights of mankind."
- Alexander Hamilton: "Real liberty is neither found in despotism or the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments."
Democracy is under threat in Biden’s America
- Socialism and fascism have been mostly democratic expressions of popular will, or "general will," as French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau would put it.
- But these political ideologies, taken to their logical extent-with the eventual diminishment of individual rights and checks on power-end in tyranny.
