For a woman who claims that she cares about human rights and marginalized people she voted "Present" on a bill recognizing Armenian genocide.
Her explanation of why she voted "Present" and not "Yes" was as ridiculous as the vote she cast, CNN reported.
Another Democrat and a Republican voted present and 11 Republicans had the nerve to vote no.
The Armenian genocide was the slaughter of non-Muslim Armenians, many of them Christians, by Turkish Muslims between 1915 and the 1920s, History.com reported.
"In spite of these obstacles, the Armenian community thrived under Ottoman rule. They tended to be better educated and wealthier than their Turkish neighbors, who in turn grew to resent their success."
That day, the Turkish government arrested and executed several hundred Armenian intellectuals.
