Senate vote,
Democratic leaders started changing the subject to climate initiatives more palatable to Middle America and less likely for Republicans to whack at.
After her press conference - where the Green New Deal's biggest champion,
freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
was noticeably absent - Pelosi refused to directly answer questions from reporters over whether her new bill is more in line with party position than the Green New Deal.
The political move is clear:
Democratic leaders do not want the party's climate policy to be entirely defined by the Green New Deal,
which Republicans are using as a wedge issue to help bolster their chances in 2020.
On Tuesday Republicans mocked the Green New Deal - a set of principles that would put the nation on a 100 percent-renewable-energy diet - by putting it up for a Senate vote in order to split Democrats and get as many on the record as possibly supporting the measure.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez says proponents of the Green New Deal aren't afraid of having this high-profile fight for the public to see.
The Green New Deal is sponsored by only 13 Senate Democrats,
including every presidential candidate in that chamber,
so McConnell's political ploy bombed because he failed to get the rest of the party to truly weigh the merits of the measure.
"
I agree with proponents of the Green New Deal that we need decisive action and ambitious goals to protect our planet for future generations,"
Maine Sen. Angus King,
an independent who caucuses with Democrats,
said in a statement Tuesday.

As you know,
Medicare is a program begun in 1966 to cover people 65 years of age and older.
As an aside,
Medicare covers for pre-existing conditions.
If you have personal insurance or are covered by group insurance where the group is 20 or fewer people,

More seniors are working past 65 years old and are opting out of portions of Medicare to remain covered by their employers.
California has a lot lower acceptance rate for doctors of Medicare.
We had to go through that analysis and make sure we were not risking her health because we did not opt for that portion and whether we were just being frugal because Medicare did not cover for the procedure.
The truth is Medicare for All is just a ploy to further move us to government controlled and administered health care.

that President Trump was the subject of an active counterintelligence investigation to determine if he was under the influence of the Russian government.

Clapper and Yates telling President Obama and NSA Susan Rice that President-elect Trump is under a counterintelligence investigation where the suspicion is that Donald J Trump is an agent of a foreign power.

New York City officials are forking over an additional $
1.6 million to city public defenders to represent illegal aliens who are facing deportation,
officials announced Thursday.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson agreed Thursday to provide the extra $
1.6 million towards the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project,
a city government-funded program that supports lawyers defending illegal aliens going through deportation proceedings.
The $
1.6 million funding allocation is on top of the $
10 million the city already set aside for these lawyers.
New York City's public defenders advocated for $
6.6 million in additional funding to address the backlog of illegal alien deportation cases,
the New York Daily News reported.
Illegal aliens who face deportation proceedings do not have a right to a taxpayer-funded public defender in U.S. courts.
Non-profit legal organizations throughout the country often represent illegal aliens going through the deportation process,
but de Blasio and other New York City officials used city taxpayer funds for public defenders representing illegal aliens.
In 2017,
former California Gov. Jerry Brown proposed using $
15 million in taxpayer funds to defend illegal aliens in deportation proceedings.
