- The state of Georgia has reached a three-month low in its number of recorded coronavirus deaths, roughly two months after the state began to lift its lockdown restrictions amid sharp criticism that a too-hasty reopening would result in widespread fatalities.
- The state's declining death numbers could point to several likely conclusions: The virus itself may have mutated and become less deadly, as numerous scientists have argued; the disease may be infecting lower age demographics in the state with better chances of recovery, as has been observed elsewhere; or state residents may be practicing strict hygiene and "social distancing" rules even as the state continues to re-open.
- Those low and continuously declining figures have defied earlier predictions that the state, which began reopening its economy on April 24, would soon see surging coronavirus numbers accompanied by a spiraling death rate.
- The average number of daily deaths in the state has been on a marked decline for over two months, since it peaked on April 22 at an average of 43 deaths a day.
- Cases have jumped noticeably in Georgia since reopening — the seven-day average of confirmed cases is now just over 1,000, up from 736 when the state began reopening.
- Yet the state began seeing an uptick in cases about five weeks ago, even as the deaths there continued their already-steady decline.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to discern fact from fiction, and unfortunately the media has a strong bias. They spin stories to make conservatives look bad and will go to great lengths to avoid reporting on the good that comes from conservative policies. There are a few shining lights in the media landscape-brave conservative outlets that report the truth and offer a different perspective. We must support conservative outlets like this one and ensure that our voices are heard.

Seattle Police Retaking Capitol Hill Neighborhood Occupied By Leftist Activists For Weeks
Seattle law enforcement officials launched an effort early Wednesday morning to retake the Capital Hill neighborhood that fringe activists occupied for weeks.
"Due to ongoing violence and public safety issues in the East Precinct/Cal Anderson Park area. Mayor Jenny Durkan has issued an executive order to vacate the area," the Seattle Police Department said in a statement Wednesday morning.
"Seattle police will be in the area this morning enforcing the Mayor's order."
"How long do you think Seattle in those few blocks looks like this?" CNN's Chris Cuomo asked Seattle Democrat Mayor Jenny Durkan last month.
President Donald Trump responded to Durkan's remarks by writing on Twitter: "Seattle Mayor says, about the anarchists takeover of her city, 'it is a Summer of Love'. These Liberal Dems don't have a clue. The terrorists burn and pillage our cities, and they think it is just wonderful, even the death. Must end this Seattle takeover now!".
Seattle has a long tradition of peaceful protest and advocacy for progressive change, and Mayor Durkan strongly supports those rights.
Seattle can and should peacefully demonstrate but should not put families and children at risk.

The Problem of 'Anti-Racism'
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, recently declared from the well of the Senate: "Being race-conscious is not enough. It never was. We must be anti-racists." What, pray tell, is the difference between being against racism and being anti-racist? Ibram X. Kendi, author of "How to Be An Antiracist," provides an answer: Racism is no longer to be defined as the belief that someone is inferior based on race.
Instead, racism is to be defined as the belief that any group differences can be attributed to anything other than racism.
The classical liberal says that rights fall equally on the just and the unjust alike; the anti-racist suggests that rights are merely tools of power.
The self-proclaimed "Anti-racist" left - a left that sees all of human relations reduced to a rudimentary correlation of skin color and inequality, an analysis we used to call racist - has decided that the culture must be cleansed of all of those who will not be drafted into its woke army.
The hard left has targeted them as the weakest link in the chain of free speech: If corporations can be bullied into pulling their money from social media networks, those social media networks can be bullied into restricting their free-speech cultures.
Such a campaign is now front and center in the culture wars: Major corporations from Coca-Cola to Target have stopped advertising on social media networks, citing the need for more "Hate speech" regulation on those platforms.
That's because the woke crusade is not truly about reducing racism; it is about attacking fundamental institutions, American history and our very culture of rights.

A new continental trade agreement kicks in on Wednesday, and border industry leaders are ready to take advantage of it.
The U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement increases native content in the auto industry, incorporates rules for e-commerce and pharmaceuticals, opens Mexico's energy sector and updates labor protections in the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA. Border cities cashed in on NAFTA as U.S.-run manufacturing plants multiplied, exports increased and logistics and transportation companies seldom lacked work, business leaders said.
He said international trade has been a "Powerful tool" for economic growth, as evidenced by the $108 billion in trade passing through the region's ports of entry last year.
One in four jobs in El Paso is tied to cross-border trade, while 300,000 people across the border in Juarez work in U.S.-run maquiladoras that assemble automotive components, electronics and medical supplies, among others.
"I'm glad this got negotiated because the real challenge was getting through the vitriol leading to a new agreement. We treated Canada and Mexico as if they were enemies rather than good neighbors and partners," said Jerry Pacheco, president and CEO of the New Mexico-based Border Industrial Association.
The governor said his staff would be identifying possible new North American partners and leveraging his border state's experienced labor force to get them to come.

Under British rule for 156 years, Hong Kong had limited democracy: its legislative council reserved seats for select business interests.
When Britain transferred its sovereignty back to China, Hong Kong became a locus of liberty-notably a free press.
Just as Hong Kong offered an oasis of liberty for post-1949 refugees from China-and later, ethnic Chinese "Boat people" from Vietnam-so, too, did Odessa grow from a tiny village to a cosmopolitan center of trade and finance.
