A Synopsis Of The Harsh Realities Of Britain's Government Run Healthcare System

Here are a few items regarding Obamacare.  The first deals with the British government run health care system so many have held up as a model for us to follow.

1.  Ask yourself if this is what you want for America.  If so, then Obamacare is for you.  If not, then getting rid of Obamacare should be our collective priority.  I cannot understand why anyone believes Obamacare will solve the problem of some 15-20 million Americans being uninsured (the supposed reason it is being implemented) by forcing, subject to penalty, everyone (310 million) into a system akin to the one in Britain.  Recent analysis points out that after implementation upwards of 30-40 million Americans will not have health insurance coverage and those with coverage will see their premiums increase.  So, tell me again how Obamacare solves the problem of those without insurance and explain to me how government run health care is a good thing for those of us with insurance.    http://finance.townhall.com/columnists/danieljmitchell/2013/06/30/josef-stalin-would-have-admired-the-uks-governmentrun-healthcare-system-n1630856/page/full

2.  Oops!  Hollywood who was a big supporter of Obamacare has now discovered that it is not such a good deal after all.  Accounting will be a nightmare and payroll management even worse.  They may well end up taking some, if not all, their operations overseas to less bureaucratic and more business friendly environs because of the increased cost imposed by Obamacare.   http://hotair.com/archives/2013/06/27/hollywood-hey-this-obamacare-thing-is-going-to-be-pretty-costly-and-complicated-for-us/

4.  Yet another oops!  You may have already seen this one but it is worth a rerun.  It seems that when our elected officials, you know the guys and gals who didn't read the bill before they voted for it, are now upset.  Because they didn't read it they did not know that Obamacare applied to them and their staffs as well as those of us who just average Americans.  Imagine that!  Now that they understand that harsh reality they are not happy.  You will get a sense of their elitist view of themselves relative to us mere citizens when reading the below link.  Anyway, one legislator's quote drives home the point:  "A lot of the staff stays on largely because of the benefit levels and particularly if you’ve got people with families and it’s extraordinarily important to them … it’s just not right.”  You see, in their view it is simply not right to mess with the benefits they and their staffs get courtesy of taxpayers who they feel free to tax to death.  To them it is just simply not right that they and their staffs have to comply with all the laws they pass.  As the article notes lawmakers have made it a priority to fix this "problem" with the legislation.  But, don't expect to hear about it once the dirty deed is done.  That is the way the system works.   http://www.politico.com/story/2013/06/obamacare-lawmakers-health-insurance-92691.html 

5.  And now there is this.  The IRS is charged with ensuring Obamacare compliance.  Think about that.  This is the same organization now under multiple investigations for both illegal and unethical improprieties as well as inappropriate use of taxpayer funds.  And this is not the first time they have run afoul of the law, ethics or decency.  Given its nefarious history nor will it be the last.  So, if you feel comfortable with government run health care, then having the less than honorable IRS legally or illegally or both snooping into your affairs and making sure you are obeying the law will be just fine.  If this does not sit well with you, however, then give your elected officials hell until this monstrosity is eliminated from the face of the earth and the government stops meddling in our personal health care affairs.     http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/05/irs_deficiencies_and_health_care.html

By the way, there is nothing, absolutely nothing in the Constitution that grants the government the authority to interfere in any way with our personal medical affairs.  If there is any doubt to this claim then study up on the original intent of the "general welfare" clause - the basis progressives use to justify Obamacare.  You will be supprised to learn that the modern day liberal/progressive interpretation of that clause has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with what the much wiser Founders intended.  I am not a lawyer but I do know that laws/contracts/conveniences, etc. are "always" suppose to be interpreted in the context of the language used, definition of terms and culture prevailing at the time in which laws, the Constitution in this case, were written.  And that is something progressive law makers and judges have chosen not to do for at least the past 100 years.

Germany Compares US Bugging to 'Cold War'

The Obama administration faced a breakdown in confidence Sunday from key foreign allies who threatened investigations and sanctions against the U.S. over secret surveillance programs that reportedly installed covert listening devices in European Union offices.
U.S. intelligence officials said they will directly discuss with EU officials the new allegations, reported in Sunday's editions of the German news weekly Der Spiegel. But the former head of the CIA and National Security Agency urged the White House to make the spy programs more transparent to calm public fears about the American government's snooping.
It was the latest backlash in a nearly monthlong global debate over the reach of U.S. surveillance that aims to prevent terror attacks. The two programs, both run by the NSA, pick up millions of telephone and Internet records that are routed through American networks each day. They have raised sharp concerns about whether they violate public privacy rights at home and abroad.

Obama to unveil broad African electrical power initiative

Pointing to Africa's crippling lack of electrical power, President Barack Obama is due to announce on Sunday a $7 billion initiative over five years to double access to power in sub-Saharan Africa.
"We see this as the next phase in our development strategy and a real focal point in the president's agenda going forward," deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes told reporters traveling with the president.
Obama is midway through a three-country tour of Africa and is due to give what aides bill as his fullest description of his vision for the U.S. relationship with the continent on Sunday.
The president has chosen historically resonant locations for the address, and is due to speak at the University of Cape Town after touring the prison on Robben Island. Robert F. Kennedy's 1966 speech at the university linked the struggles against apartheid and the U.S. civil rights movement and was seen as giving encouragement to the movement, while Robben Island is where anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 years in jail.

Scalia’s Literary Dissent

If John Keats is right that “Beauty is truth, truth beauty,” Justice Antonin Scalia’s crafted dissent must be truer than Justice Anthony Kennedy’s flat majority opinion. His language is sharp and highly metaphorical as he argues that the majority opinion is “diseased,” leading not to order and health but to a cancerous chaos. Here are a few of his most literary lines:
The root error of the Court’s erroneous decisions, Scalia writes, is its “diseased” exaltation of its own role: “The Court’s errors on both points spring forth from the same diseased root: an exalted conception of the role of this institution in America.” This, in turn, has caused the Court to diminish the Constitution, viewing it, Scalia writes, as “a technicality of little interest”: “The Court is eager—hungry—to tell everyone its view of the legal question at the heart of this case. Standing in the way is an obstacle, a technicality of little interest to anyone but the people of We the People, who created it as a barrier against judges’ intrusion into their lives.”

Obama Infatuation Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry

We're starting to see the occasional disillusioned mainstream media reporter coming out of the closet. A writer in the Sunday New York Times, for example, attempts to compare Obama to Mandela, and closes his column with a damning comparison:

Mandela, above all, had a clear sense of his core principles... But tell me, do you have a clear sense of what moral purpose drives our president?

Ouch!
The writer is scornful of Time magazine's Managing Editor, Rick Stengel, who "could not resist comparing his hero [Mandela] to another tall, serene, hope-bearing son of Africa: Barack Obama"; Stengel wrote: "Whatever Mandela may or may not think of the new American president, Obama is in many ways his true successor on the world stage."

The administration is not just killing coal

Not content with pending rules that virtually bar construction of new coal-fired power plants, President Obama directed the U.S. Environ-mental Protection Agency to set limits on how much carbon dioxide the nation's existing electric power plants may emit.
The implications for the American coal industry, coal-fired utilities, and business and residential power customers are enormous.
The Natural Resources Defense Council estimated it would cost utilities $4 billion to comply with new regulations on coal power plants, but the economy would see from $25 to $60 billion in benefits.
This, plainly put, is a crock, and the story behind it is one of dishonest government that should be curbed.
