Mother of Oregon Elementary School Shooter Says He Was a Good Kid. No, He Was a Monster.

A tragic shooting occurred at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where 16-year-old John J. Griffin II opened fire, resulting in the deaths of a teacher and three young students. The shooter's mother claims he was a good boy, but public sentiment disagrees.

The shooter, John J. Griffin II, gained access to the school armed with a shotgun and shot through locked doors.

In total, the attack resulted in the fatalities of an 11-year-old, an 8-year-old, a 5-year-old kindergartner named Rhoam Summer, and one teacher.

An armed bystander, Kaylub Giamanco, intervened and managed to stop Griffin, preventing further casualties. Giamanco is recognized for his courage during the incident.

Griffin's mother, Shauntai May Nickerson, expressed sorrow and claimed her son was a "good boy," asserting she would have intervened if possible.

Many analysts dismiss her claims, emphasizing Griffin's violent actions and labeling him a "monster."

The weapon used in the attack belonged to Griffin's mother, and authorities are investigating how he obtained it.

Families of survivors are reportedly struggling with trauma and feelings of guilt following the shooting.

The incident has sparked intense discussions about school safety, gun violence, and the narratives surrounding young offenders. While Griffin's mother seeks sympathy, the tragic outcomes of her son's actions overshadow her portrayal of him. There remains a strong community focus on supporting affected families and recognizing the heroism of those who defended the school.
