FBI Made Over 8,900 Arrests, Located 1,410 Child Victims Under Operation Summer Heat 2.0

Operation Summer Heat 2.0, conducted by the FBI from June 1 to September 20, 2026, aimed at combating crime across the nation. The operation shows significant achievements in arrests and the recovery of child victims compared to its predecessor.

The FBI arrested 8,927 individuals and located 1,410 children during the operation.

Arrests increased by 3%, while child recoveries rose by 34% compared to Operation Summer Heat 1.0 in 2025.

Law enforcement seized 5,013 weapons, marking a 120% increase from the last operation.

Over 59,525 pounds of cocaine and 1,499 pounds of fentanyl were confiscated.

Six top fraud suspects were arrested, and six cybercriminals were extradited during this period.

Specific achievements included approximately 95 arrests and 119 weapons seized in Nebraska and Iowa, and 662 arrests with 315 firearms taken in Louisiana.

According to Special Agent Jonathan Tapp, the effectiveness of long-term incarceration improves public safety compared to short-term holding.

A recent report highlighted a significant year-to-year decrease in violent crime, with homicide rates down 18% and gun assaults down 6% in early 2026.

The Trump administration has been noted for its tough stance against criminal illegal immigrants, with recent deportations including violent gang members.

The success of Operation Summer Heat 2.0 demonstrates the FBI's ongoing efforts to enhance community safety through extensive law enforcement collaboration and targeted crime reduction initiatives.
