A report by the conservative group Concerned Women for America claims that transgender athletes have won over 2,293 gold medals in women’s and girls’ sports in the U.S. The data, sourced from HeCheated, tracks transgender participation since the mid-1980s.
Transgender athletes have competed in over 14,301 female sporting events and earned more than $501,498 in professional prize money.
In California alone, there have been 611 instances where women or girls finished second to transgender competitors.
The group argues that this participation of trans women in women’s sports is unfair to biological women and called for legislative measures to protect women's sports.
Penny Nance, the group's president, emphasized the advantages biological males have over biological females in competition.
The report was released ahead of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the topic of fairness in female athletics.
The findings have sparked significant online debate, with critics asserting that female athletes are being denied opportunities due to transgender participation in women’s sports. The report calls for Congress to take action regarding this issue.
