A report from CBS News details significant increases in the arrests of illegal aliens by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) during the Trump administration, highlighting a summer enforcement surge.
The DHS, under President Trump, has been arresting approximately 1,500 illegal aliens daily, based on internal documents.
In July alone, over 46,000 illegal aliens were taken into custody, surpassing the June total of about 43,000.
The average daily detainee numbers indicate a substantial rise in detentions, with ICE holding about 68,000 individuals, nearing a record high.
These figures starkly contrast with the first year of President Biden's administration, where only about 5,200 criminal illegal aliens were in ICE custody, representing an 80% decrease in detentions compared to previous years.
The data underscores a significant operational shift in immigration enforcement during Trump's second term, emphasizing a more aggressive stance on illegal immigration compared to his predecessor.
