Merrick Garland Says Department of Justice Will Speed Up the Hunt for Non-Violent January 6 Protestors

Saturday, on the third anniversary of the January 6, 2021, demonstration on Capitol Hill, the FBI arrested three "fugitives" from justice in Florida. Jonathan Pollock--were one fool enough to believe everything the FBI claims--might arguably have been worth a three-year manhunt. Jonathan Daniel Pollock, Olivia Michele Pollock, and Joseph Daniel Hutchinson III were arrested on a ranch near Groveland, Florida. As I've said before, the Justice Department will hold all January 6 perpetrators at any level accountable under the law whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy.

On the same day, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia also gave a speech celebrating the Justice Department's monomaniacal pursuit of anyone with any association with the events of January 6.

An important note when it comes to our prosecutions of those who remained outside the building.

The charges against the other two were so chickensh that they were released on bail. I mean, he punched a cop or two; that's surely a threat to the republic.

Make no mistake.

I mean, what if the George Floyd rioters in Portland had gotten away with punching cops? But, if a person knowingly entered the restricted area without authorization, they had already committed a federal crime.

Thousands of people occupied an area they were not authorized to be present in the first place.

Keep in mind that this is the guy who has refused to prosecute 67 percent of the felony arrests in DC.

The $1.7 trillion spending bill passed by Congress and signed by Joe Biden on December 29 earmarked an additional $34 million to the Department of Justice to support the January 6 prosecution in 2024.

We have used our prosecutorial discretion to primarily focus on those who entered the building or those who engaged in violent or corrupt conduct on Capitol grounds.
