Would this have anything to do with Israel doing a sudden about-face on the fourth dose?
Israel is backtracking and abandoning the fourth injection of Pfizer's vaccine pending study results.
A week earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced, not without enthusiasm, that the Hebrew State would inoculate the over 60s, the most fragile and the health care workers with a new dose of Pfizer vaccine in response to the Omicron variant.
"The citizens of Israel were the first in the world to receive the third dose of Covid-19 vaccine and we continue to pioneer with the fourth," he said.
Sheba Hospital has just started a clinical study on a panel of 150 caregivers with the goal of determining whether or not a fourth dose is necessary for the entire population,.
"If we don't vaccinate, the price will be very high - severe morbidity and many quarantines," said Dr. Boaz, head of the advisory group that recommended Israel begin offering the fourth dose, at a Dec. 21 press conference, The Times of Israel reported.
He has decided to wait for the results of studies on the fourth dose.
