Top Intel General Skeptical About North Korea's Offer

The top general of the Defense Intelligence Agency on Tuesday said he was skeptical of the news that North Korea is willing to suspend its nuclear program and come to the table for talks, the Washington Examiner reports.

Lt. Gen. Robert Ashley told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he'll believe it when he sees it.

"That's kind of a 'show-me,'" Ashley told the committee, the Examiner reported.

"So we'll see how this plays out."

Senators were asking Ashley about South Korea's assertions that the Hermit Country was prepared to suspend its nuclear missile program and begin talks with its neighbor and the U.S. "Senator, right now, I don't share your optimism," Ashley told Sen. Jim Inhofe.

Ashley's position parallels that of President Donald Trump, who earlier Tuesday said "We will see what happens."
