Land protection legislation unanimously approved in Senate

North Carolina's General Assembly is advancing a proposal to protect land near military installations and agricultural areas.

• The House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill aimed at land protection, which awaits action in the Senate.

• Senate Bill 394, named the North Carolina Farmland and Military Protection Act, passed 42-0 and includes restrictions on foreign ownership of land.

• House Bill 133 and Senate Bill 504 also support land protection and gained unanimous approval in the House.

• Specific adversarial countries, including China and Russia, are mentioned in the bill's language.

• Military installations targeted for protection include Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune, with specific radius restrictions.

• If enacted, the bill will take effect on December 1.

Legislative efforts continue to ensure the protection of strategic lands in North Carolina.
