The Oversight Project has released concerning findings linking the increased use of autopen signatures by President Joe Biden to his perceived decline in mental and physical health.
• The project previously noted that two autopens were used for Biden's signatures, including time spent on a golf course while signing pardons.
• Subsequent analysis revealed that significant pardons, including those for family members and prominent public figures, were also signed using the autopen.
• A study of Biden's Executive Order signatures indicated that he only used wet signatures during his first 18 months in office, but this changed drastically in Spring 2022, where about half of the orders were autopen-signed. By Summer 2022, all orders were signed this way.
• By 2023, two-thirds of the orders were done with autopen, escalating to 100% by early 2025.
• Several Executive Orders signed with autopen addressed critical issues like national security and public health. Examples include combating drug trafficking and countering Russian aggression.
These findings have raised questions, with former President Trump advocating for the invalidation of Biden’s autopen-signed pardons, claiming they are not genuine.
