Russian lawyer who met with top Trump campaign officials says Mueller hasn't contacted her

The Russian lawyer who top Trump campaign officials were told had compromising information on Hillary Clinton ahead of a June 2016 meeting told the Associated Press on Sunday that she is surprised she has not been contacted by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to The Associated Press.

Natalia Veselnitskaya met in Trump Tower in June 2016 with Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort and discussed issues related to U.S. sanctions against Russia and the adoption of Russian children by Americans.

Trump Jr. had been promised, through an intermediary, that Veselnitskaya had access to damaging information about Clinton sourced from the Russian government.

Told of the information Veselnitskaya had to offer and its provenance, Trump Jr. replied to the intermediary via email that "If it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer."

The Russian attorney said Mueller's team, which is investigating Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and allegations that individuals tied to Trump colluded in those efforts, has not contacted her.

Trump Jr., who addressed the meeting only after its existence became public, has downplayed it as a minor meeting that bore no fruit.

He and the Trump administration have insisted that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.
