Stop Monsanto's EPA Nominee!

Hard to believe, but pesticide safety in this country could soon get even worse.
Michael Dourson, President Trump’s nominee to lead the Environmental Protection Agency office that oversees pesticides and chemicals, is a long-time friend to big pesticide companies, including Dow and Monsanto. He’s spent his entire career advocating against strong regulations on hazardous pesticides like chlorpyrifos.
Hazardous pesticides, like those used on GMO crops, have been linked to serious health effects like endocrine disruption, nervous system damage and even cancer. These pesticides can contaminate our air, water and food. We need the EPA to take these health risks seriously and protect Americans!
The Senate could be voting on Dourson’s confirmation as early as THIS WEEK! We need activists like you to make their voices heard right now! Can we count on you to contact your senators today?
Through his consulting firm Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment, or TERA, Michael Dourson worked for Monsanto and Dow to produce junk science that downplays the health risks of hazardous pesticides and herbicides. In 2006, Dow AgroSciences paid Dourson to produce a study suggesting it was safe to consume chlorpyrifos – a toxic insecticide that can harm children’s brains and nervous systems – at levels 5,000 times higher than the limit proposed by the EPA in 2016.
In 2009, Dourson helped Dow and Monsanto advocate for unsafe drinking water standards on alachlor and acetochlor, two herbicides linked to cancer. In the end, Wisconsin regulators adopted a limit up to 280 times more protective than what Dourson proposed on behalf of Dow and Monsanto.
It’s clear Dourson is deep in the pockets of Big Ag and won’t stand up to Dow or Monsanto to protect Americans’ health from toxic pesticides. We need the Senate to stop his confirmation right now!
Thanks for standing with us.
Sincerely,
Katrina Staves
