Science & Things

This is very important!  Please read. It addresses a misapplication by climate scientists of a physics equation known as the Bode feedback system-gain equation.  This mistake has rendered their assumptions and applications useless.  Quote: "Now, here is the problem – and a fatal problem at that – for the climate communists’ case. They had thought – for they know very little elementary physics – that the Bode feedback system-gain equation, which they had appropriated from the process engineers, applies just as much to dynamical systems such as the climate as it does to dynamical systems such as electronic circuits."  And, " However, unknown to nearly all climate modelers, there are two distinct classes of dynamical systems, and they behave in different ways. In an electronic circuit, when the feedbacks become large enough to drive the closed-loop gain beyond 1, the current instantaneously flicks from the positive to the negative rail. What was as near an infinite positive voltage as the average feedback-enhanced circuit can deliver becomes a near-infinite negative voltage as the loop gain exceeds 1."  And, "The climate, however, is a dynamical system in a quite different class.  Rising temperature is the mechanism by which the radiative imbalance created, say, by our releasing large quantities of CO2 back into the atmosphere from which they originally came is resolved and equilibrium is restored."   http://www.wnd.com/2015/01/equation-spells-doom-for-climate-communists/

This is neat.  Get your kids into language training programs.  It might do wonders for them and their futures.  https://www.sciencenews.org/blog/growth-curve/bilingual-brain-prepped-more-second-language?   Thanks to Ken B. for sharing.

It is apparent that this historian is not a scientist with an understanding of a "...null-hypothesis test: For there to be a relationship between two variables, it must first be demonstrated that the null hypothesis — that the two variables are independent of each other — is false. As Fisher [creator of the test] put it, every experiment may be said to exist only in order to give the facts a chance of disproving the null hypothesis."   http://www.nationalreview.com/article/395953/climate-alarmists-warm-it-rupert-darwall?

Climate scientists render false claims that 2014 was the hottest year on record.  Quote: “Just one problem with that. The catastrophist clique no longer entirely controls the scientific journals. It tried to, but it didn’t get away with it. In addition to ‘The ocean ate my global warming,’ the scientific journals contain a host of recent papers giving between them no less than 25 – yes, 25 – mutually incompatible explanations of the Great Pause.”   http://www.wnd.com/2015/01/scientists-undermine-hottest-year-claim-by-feds/
