The Harris campaign is playing defense by recruiting thousands of lawyers to advise and support their election strategies around Election Day.
Democrats are bracing for former President Donald Trump's campaign and allies to initiate legal battles over the 2024 election results if he loses, actions Republicans took following the 2020 election.
More than 400 lawyers have been hired to draft legal memos in preparation for possible litigation, according to the Wall Street Journal, with thousands of pages already filed.
The Democratic National Committee spent nearly $22 million on lawyers this election cycle as of the summer, according to an analysis conducted by the outlet of recent federal campaign finance records.
"As soon as they file a case, as soon as they start saying election results can't be trusted, we are prepared to respond." So far, Republicans have been involved in 130 lawsuits in 26 states centered on election integrity issues to ensure that voter rolls are accurate.
The question of election integrity is expected to be closely contested in the immediate days following Nov. 5.
In recent weeks, the GOP has lost some of its key lawsuits in its effort to maintain election integrity.
